The focus was to create music with strong Funk,Soul and jazz overtones by being Strongly Influenced by the Early 70's Funk Rock movement. These influences traversed into what the DÅF is today which also includes stout jazz overtones, Funky rhythms, Eddie "Hazel-ish" guitar solos, symphonic horns, melodious bass playing, Solid and in the pocket drum beats. The DÅF is not just a band but can be described more as an "Evolving Project". Jimmy Capley and Jadon Figuerido decided that they wanted artists on their projects that they looked up to within their favorite genres. "The Core" members will lay the foundation, record the tracks live, and then the "Search" is on! Each song calls for a specific type of musical styling which is where the fun really begins. Individual artists are discussed amongst The Core and once the players are decided on, efforts are made to contact the Guest Appearances. The goal is to pull Artists from the past that were relevant to the Genre and to spotlight new Artists that have been heavily influenced by these. The Debut Album "East Bay Grease" pays homage to the Bay Areas rich Funk History and even flirts with some New Orleans Funk stylings. The DÅF strongly encourages listening to their music with the "headphones on" to truly appreciate the collage of sound, creativity and cinematic imagery that will be called to mind.

Led Bib was formed in 2003 by drummer/composer Mark Holub and played its first gig on February 24th, 2004. The group released their first album in May 2005 to widespread critical praise and went on to win the 2005 Peter Whittingham Jazz Award. Their second album Sizewell Tea was released in 2007 through iconic London based record label Babel. It was quickly followed by a limited edition live release, but it was the release of their 4th album Sensible Shoes that saw them experience widespread acclaim following the announcement that they were chosen as an Album of the Year in the Barclaycard Mercury Prize. The ensuing media storm saw them reach in excess of 20 million people as they performed on TV & Radio sessions including Channel 4 TV News with Jon Snow and playing live on BBC 2. In 2011 they released Bring Your Own, their second album for US based Cuneiform Records, which was quickly hailed as a stand out success, getting 4 and 5 star reviews across the board. Led Bib continue to appeal to all fans of good music – it’s the reason that drum and bass heads, jazz aficionados and folk and pop fans are dotted across their audiences. They have drawn references from across the musical spectrum from Captain Beefheart and John Zorn to Pink Floyd and Miles Davis. 2014 sees the release of two new albums to celebrate their 10th anniversary the studio album 'The People in Your Neighbourhood' and the limited edition live vinyl 'The Good Egg' and both are already being hailed as modern classics and their best yet. n one hand there are clues to a spiritual home that’s situated somewhere in the back streets of 1966, but on the other is a reinvented soul stew that’s very much a product of the 21st Century. Formed in 1997, Cookin’ On 3 Burners was always meant to be an experiment in sound. Drenched in the bluesy soulful influence of the late 60?s/early 70?s output of labels such as Prestige, Bluenote & Groove Merchant, these Melbourne music stalwarts began serving up a feast of tasty funk on a bed of Hammond soul, creating a flavour that gets better with every lick of the spoon. In 2002 they released their first 7” single (Gravel Rash / Pie Warmer) under the Bamboo Shack label and by the summer of 2009, the band was number 1 on the UK iTunes RnB charts with the track This Girl (featuring Kylie Auldist). In between, Cookin’ On 3 Burners, made their home at esteemed U.K label Freestyle Records, rocked the B-Boy and B-Girl championships, had songs featured on a string of hit TV shows and played alongside acts such as Quantic, Alice Russell, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Fat Freddie’s Drop. And the heat just keeps on rising. Six albums in and their new album Blind Bet more than delivers. Described as ‘classic soul sounds with a modern cinematic twist’, it features beautiful string and horn arrangements by Ross Irwin and special guest vocalists Daniel Merriweather, Tex Perkins, Kylie Auldist, Harry James Angus (Cat Empire) and Jason Heerah (Electric Empire) If you haven’t seen Cookin’ on 3 Burners live, you’re in for a treat. Grab your over gloves and join the band as they celebrate the future sound of yesterday. Link to the website : http://cookinon3burners.com/cotbwordpress/biography/ |
